Come taste the flavourful cuisine of Hyderabad

The delicious cuisine that is found in Hyderabad is something that makes the city well worth a visit on this merit alone. Hyderabad is the most highly populated city in the state of Andhra Pradesh, as well as being its capital. The cultural traditions that now make up the essence of this city were developed during the time when Asaf Jahi left the Mughal Empire. It is interesting to find out about the history here so that when we try the food, we can really appreciate it. Jahi established an independent state in the 16th century, his descendants calling themselves ‘Nizam’. The Nizam then became allied with the British in 1978 when a military and political alliance was signed and the heritage that developed during this time has been well-preserved.

From the 15th to the 19th centuries, the finest cuisine in India was developed. This was mainly as a result of the Mughal Emperors who saw the creation of food as an art form. Their courts featured the most mouth-watering dishes in the country and this marks the food types that are still associated with India today. Food from this area has a distinctive taste that you will recognise whether having a quick meal at home while playing Party poker or out for dinner at a restaurant. It is the flavourful combination of ingredients that makes Indian food such a popular choice and a favourite for many people.

This taste can be recognised in the food of Hyderabad. One dish that is especially associated with this city, and eaten throughout India, is the Biryani. This dish alone comes in numerous different varieties, usually made with mutton or chicken. Meat and rice are mixed with delicious flavours including onions, lemon, coriander, saffron and yoghurt. This dish is typically accompanied by Dahl chutney or a salad comprising carrot, onion, lemon wedges and cucumber.

The Biryani is one of the dishes that people specifically want to try when visiting Hyderabad. It is really tasty, and you can sense the culture and history that lies behind its creation.
