When you need a break? Evaluate Here…

TechnoparkToday.com > Hectic work schedules are never out-of-the-ordinary in corporate offices. The lights are on till past midnight, take break from workcabs keep buzzing at any hour in the dark night with employees and calls are scheduled from as early as 7 in the morning and goes on till 10 in the nights or even late. Working non-stop without enough rest and breaks would definitely take a toll on the physical and mental wellbeing. Any machinery requires timely over oiling, when our car needs a regular service, we humans need to care take ourselves physically and emotionally.

A couple of pointers to evaluate whether you need a break from the it-is-all-but-hectic-work-schedule mode!

Was – Took 10 minutes to understand a chunk of work
Is – The small task is open for days and weeks

Was – Very lively and approachable by co-workers
Is – Any small intrusion is interference

Was – Surf the net on need and read food-for-thought articles
Is – Surfing is on day-in and day-out, yet no clues on what to do

Was – Spent time on hobbies and personal interests
Is – Losing interest in once-it-was-passionate hobby

Was – Woke up by the alarm to plan the day
Is – Melody of alarm sounds like a siren

Was – Ate as much as your body asked for
Is – Food control is close to zero and started munching more than you usually do

Are you more into Was or Is??? If you are high on the ‘Is’ scale don’t delay a break any further. If you are otherwise commence your regular breaks and retain is-was rating as-is. Need help on planning a break? Here you go,Spend good time in a nearby holiday spot or beach or theatre with loved ones

  • Reduce the surfing time by one or two hours a day
  • Go on long walks, meditate and visit places where nature is abundant
  • Never drive in and around the office campus while in vacation
  • Go on a window shopping if wallet is thin. A bulky wallet calls for a shopping spree
  • Join some social clubs where you get to meet like-minded people
  • Indulge into an activity that happens once or twice a week which shifts your focus from work
  • Spend quality time on the hobby
  • Talk to friends and family. Be kind to all creations of world
  • Cook your own meal

Manage to take regular breaks. Your individual best-self is very essential for you to reach your ambitions. Have fun even when things are not as you wanted them to be.Happiness is never the destination, it is the journey itself !!

  1. Good article. this explains why we need to take breaks from our work / hectic routines to refresh and energize our mind and body. if you look in to other countries, they have very definite time for work and play, but here we are working while playing and playing while working.
