Technopark company Speridian firing employees because of US recession?

For past few days the media was speculating on Technopark layoffs in the scene of the US economic slow down. Some media like surya TV, Headlines Today, Asianet news, Indiavision, Kerala Kaumudi and many others reported this and they showcased a few employees from Technopark who lost their jobs because of the recession.

TechnoparkToday made a small investigation on this issue, and discovered that those female employees who appeared on these television channels are from Speridian – a software company in Technopark, and they worked in the BPO section catering to Legal Transcription clients. They were laid off because of some performance issues according to reliable sources, and not because of the economic slow down in USA.

The Media is trying to make the most of this issue and they are projecting the economic slow down and its impact on IT business. But this is manipulated news, and we would like to bring to everybody’s attention the fraud played by the media in creating a sensation to get more subscribers/viewers.

Speridian is one of the fastest growing IT Services company in US. It was actually ranked 24th in the Inc 500 list this year.     This article does not talk about an incompetent employee. Luis is the fellow who brought up Speridian indirectly by sharing BPO services with them. Speridian’s MD went to the extent of pulling the plug on the internet connection. That is how cheap he can get.

  4. Seems like Speridian has not changed its ways. The same thing happened to 2 guys last year. Speridian could not manage the project properly bcoz it was their first time in that domain, and the client was naturally unhappy with them. This led to delays and Speridian management didn’t know how to handle the situation. So what did they do – they gave laid-off letters to the 2 guys. After a few days that project suddenly came alive and the management didn’t think twice before calling back those guys, who had already got jobs in some other company. Speridian was ready to pay a huge amount just to get the work done, which they said was only for couple of weeks.

    For someone who had just got a job in another company, it was always going to be impossible to leave/postpone that offer and work for Speridian, without any written commitment. But I guess, Speridian is still working on the same lines…they just don’t care about people’s careers, it’s only PROFIT that matters for them. The CEO doesn’t think even for a split second before firing anyone, he even fires people on phone. The company first offers a host of facilities when they need people to join them, but after joining employees realize the truth, that they have to pay for even the basic facilities which all other companies provide to all employees without charging anything.

    I am saying all this from personal experience bcoz I have worked with Speridian.

  5. Ultimately the company fired four people cos they thought they were a burden financially. Firing is not an option. Even bigger companies have no-firing policies unless ofcourse due to disciplinary issues. firing is having a direct impact on one’s livelihood.

    And for the record, this is not the first time speridian is firing employees. In 2006 when speridian started growing they were known are the FIRING company. Local management is fine but not the american ceo. he is known for his ruthless unreasonable way of conducting affairs. like the above poster said he is famous for firing employees over the phone even when he has never seen them.

    The firings became an issue between the local management and the CEO so much that even today they dispute over it. you can walk into work one morning and walk out just like that if you work in speridian.

    All this happening in a company which does not have any direct customers and claiming to be hit badly by recession.

  6. Heard a lot about a guy named venkiteswaran or someone who is the manipulator of this guy, who claims to be the CEO. One of my friend who worked with this firm told venkiteswaran is the real maipulator who even has control of the CEO…wat a pitty… Friends dont even think of getting in to this firm.. bcz they will offer you many things and then will screw up your life.. jst ask someone who is working in Speridian, they will tell you the truth

    HOW DOES IT BECOME 24TH? BY FALSIFYING DOCUMENTS AND FIGURES? WHEN I WAS SENT TO THE US ON H1, MY 1.5 YEARS EXPERIENCE WAS SHOWN AS 5 YEARS. I WAS SUPPOSED TO HAVE WORKED ON SAP WHEN I HAVENT EVEN SEEN MORE THAN DUMMY SCREENS OF SAP. I WAS SENT TO DIFFERENT CLIENTS AND I STRUGGLED KEEPING MYSELF AFLOAT WITH REAL SAP CONSULTANTS. MY COLLEAGUES WERE HAVING A TOUGH TIME TOO. ONE OF THEM CLAIMED 8 YEARS EXPERIENCE AT THE AGE OF 23 AND THE CLIENT FOUND OUT. ANOTHER COULD NOT EVEN NAME THE LOCAL SUPERMARKETS AFTER HAVING APPARENTLY WORKED THERE IN THE USA FOR MORE THAN 5 YEARS. DONT BELIEVE ME? ASK ANYONE IN OUR COMPANY.

    WE DONT HAVE EVEN 1 PROJECT MANAGER IN THIS FASTEST GROWING COMPANY. WE HAVE ONLY ONE MANAGEMENT GUY AND HE IS GOOD. HE HAS EXPERIENCE YOU SEE. THEN THERE ARE MANAGERS WITHOUT THE RIGHT QUALIFICATIONS.

    PLEASE GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT BEFORE PUBLISHING THEM.

  11. The allegations about Speridian are utterly baseless! False stories were fabricated to tarnish the reputation of the company. A manipulator caucus is working behind the curtain to invent new stinking stories about Speridian. Restless souls are still working hard to spoil the image of the company. They may be frustrated by the growth of the company. Almost everyone knows the facts. Please don’t intentionally create any false allegation about one of the budding companies in Technopark! Please don’t add fuel to the fire!

  12. How silly are you? Rumors published on a web page is hardly enough to spoil the image of a company.

    Having said that – it is good to remember that disgruntled employees are born because of a bad management team. I believe that the recent news coverage should speak for this.

    How well you know SPERIDIAN? Just get in touch with any of the employees there and ask them if they are happy with the management…. And if you can prove that the truth is wat you are claiming, it would be a great eye opener for myself and others who are not judging an organization without solid proofs..

    @Bunga – 200 employees or 200 camels. Speridian is still hovering around 100 and the incompetency rating is very high. You said 2-3 people tarnishing the image of the company. 1stly no image, 2ndly not 2-3 but i can personally bring 30 people who will spit in the name of this company. Show us one soul who has left the company happily.

    @Sri – 1st of all what is the reputation you are talking about? before you say “budding”, please help the company hire real management and not make Managers out of petty programmers who cannot even speak Angrezi.

    Friends, when I joined Speridian in 2007, I was shocked to see that they did not have even a employee manual. I was further shocked to realise that we did not have even a leave policy in place. It was too late for me cos I had already wound up my previous job hoping to become an SAP consultant. Rest later…

  16. Why are we wasting time on insignificant companies like Speridian? Technopark honcho IBS is laying off, we hear? Managers there are working late into the night settling releases.

    All said and done, firing or terminating people (4 girls in this case) is not ethical. Being fired when you come to work one morning is surely not the best feeling in the world. Such sort of actions surely stem from a bad management. We have been hearing that the company in question hosts a very immature CEO. Some of the girls fired here were with the company for nearly a year. Did it take them a whole year to realise that they were poor performers? Get your ethics right.

    We don’t need firing companies inside Technopark.

    Regarding Hr policies i know many companies in technopark itself which has a rude hr policy…like forcing lady employees to resign because they are not ready to give a maternity leave…

    Are you living in this world dude? ha ha.. I feeel so pity for you for having such a bad idea of wats happening around you. Might be bcz you are not in to the real IT business. The whole world knows that the economic crisis in US is affecting every corner of the world, mainly the IT Business. And about HR policies, ha ha.. Are you really in to IT industry dude? I doubt it.. The whole organization is dependent on how well the HR policies are framed and how well the policies are implemented in that organization. Its “Human Relationship” dude, if you dont wat ‘HR’ stands for. Any company which has flourished in the market always had had Good HR policies. Would you join a company which offers you high salary but there is a risk of loosing your job at any time after you join there? So Mr Biju if you dont know about all these, better go for some government department. You will be a good asset there, not in the IT world. And one more thing dear, all the good companies in TechnoPark do have a good HR department, and those where there are no policies and a firm HR, they will come in news, the same way as its happening with Speridian.
    And man..this is 21st century.. dont let anyone hear wat you said atlast.. ha ha..if some women social reformers see this, oh man.. you would be in great trouble. And out of curiosity, where exactly is that happening, where women are fired when they ask for Maternity leave?? ha ha.. Hey if one person file a case against that firm, they wont ever have an option to come back in to business. So Mr Biju dont furnish YOUR WONDERFUL IDEAS here, unless you really know thigs. Better read the news paper man rather than talking for someone without solid knowledge.   19. hello to all those junks who are defending Speridian, please hear my personal experience with this so called great company. My name is Sajith and I was hired in that company back 4 months as software tester, along with one of my other colleague Mr.John. One fine morning they told me that I have to go on-site so I need to get B1 visa. Well after obtaining the visa when I reached office the next week they told me that the project is no more and so is the client, so is my job is screwed. They did not even think for a second before showing me the door. My colleague Mr.John was already on the road without job now he is working in Technopark in Ushus Tech. I can come down physically and prove it in front of all those stupid guys who claims Speridian is good. They made my life and career crappier, I hope you understand what it is to loose a job without any fault of yours. So I would herewith request you all to please think twice, thrice before getting into this company. All those who are crying on top of the voice about Speridian’s goodness are none other than those useless CEO of that company…Beware

  20. The real CEO is in the desert of New Mexico close to the real Mexico and he is a pervert who thinks all Indians are losers like him. He also thinks Indians are slaves and that he can employ the American model of Hire and Fire in India. He is just in his thirties. A kid who needs to get more respect. Who thinks that we are all from butter chicken families living on his chicken.

    Now You know why you are the real LOSER. His breadwinner the BNY team has been cut by a sixteenth and we are all in different parts of the world from Japan to the USA, over Asia and Europe etc and not over the Pacific.

    what is the use of keeping this thread open? it is not going anywhere other than unhappy employees complaining here. there is a lot of truth in what is being said out there. but it is not going to change anything. only time will tell. requesting the moderator to discontinue the bashing the company is receiving. ofcourse, as can be seen there are a lot of disgruntled employees in this company. only god can help them.

Dear sir this blog will go on to make a lot of difference and next time no professionals will join your Speridian. If you can give me a chance lets debate it in public and I will elucidate you how they fired me without any mistake of mine, and why I am so disgruntled. If you have the guts lets take it from here face to face.

    Good to see the tremendous response to this post. I used to work in Speridian a year back and I used to be one of those disgruntled ppl like you see in the earlier replies and I have no hesitation in saying so.

    The reason I m here is not to diss the company or crib.

    The actual reason is coz there are some real jobless people in Speridian still talking shit about others (all this coz they really are jobless).

    I wont get into name-calling coz therz no need to do so. Everyone who has worked in Speridian for more than a day knows who the eternal flames (too nice a phrase) are.

    Last night a friend of mine still working with the co called me to tell me he was told by one of the many “managers” that I was behind all the anti-Speridian blogging.

    LOL

    This is what I have to say to you “Manager” – “yes! I do blog and i have my own blog and i will continue to write things that I feel for and not about Sh*t I dont care for, examples are your jobless job & your company. Also, by going around telling people that I am the reason behind the blog, you are self-admitting that you can’t even write more than 2 sentences of English together coz if you could:-

    1. you would not be rotting the way you are in Speridian
    2. you would have put good use to your english to crib and diss your employer just like the pplz above.

    You are growing old in the face (yeah in the face) and with your vaaaaast experience it is time you retired in life and took to more adventurous outdoor sport like Golf in the vaaaaast paddy fields behind your palace.

    TO the Director & GM, I still have respect and liking for you guys and I feel you are the only reason the co still runs. Please give work to those who are jobless.

    A note to all the contributors to the thread – I have to admit, firing is not an option unless in an extreme situation. Poor performers do not deserve a place. But they have to be warned of their poor performance before being terminated. Should not be a Monday morning thing.

  26. Sorry to see all these posts abt Spheridian…I used to work for IBM India before moving to Infy in Trivandrum.

    I heard a lot abt one Mr. Panicker while in IBM. He was known as an expert in Siebel and there was one occasion where IBM’s Global head of CRM – Financial Services visited us in Bangalore and after getting introduced to him, he mentioned that my last name was the same of one of his finest people. Later i found out this guy now runs a CRM company called Spheridian based in Kerala.

    Felt very proud at that time that some of us Keralites are becoming entrepreneurs and setting up offices in Kerala.

    I finally moved back to Kerala for a lesser pay in Infosys so that i could get back closer to home.

    I hope this is a temporary distraction and this company does well.

    You may be right, about the technical skillset of Mr. CEO…but does that mean you see others as pieces of sh*t????? When it comes in to real life, its all about how you interact with people and for a person who holds a CEO’s position should keep up his dignity. If you ever had worked with this guy,I bet, you would feeel ashamed for holding such a false impression about this guy in your mind for all these years.. And ravi, tell me, dont you feel that with years of experience you would be mastering the field that you working? Its jst that hype this guy is having.. He is a good manipulator and talker…and other than that he is bigg bigg ZERO… I am frustated bcz of my friends experience with this guy… And if you really want to know wat all outlined by different people here are right, jst ask someone there about the NUMBER OF GUYS who FLEW from there bcz of the GREAT CEO’s BAD CHARACTER… people who are in the managerial level are all People who really really dont have any experience other than rumoring and gossipping.. I bet if you can show me atleast one manager there with solid experience I would support all those who really really wants to put an end to this blog…
