Sacked Wipro employee alleges harassment

An ex-employee of Wipro has filed a harassment case with the Electronics City police against some senior officials of the company after his services were terminated, reports Bangalore Mirror. Ram Manohar G, a native of Hyderabad, has alleged that he was confined to a room and harassed by his seniors, and was finally forced to quit. The 37 year old techie had been working as a team leader in the organization for the past 15 months.

According to Ram, he joined Wipro on Dec 3, 2007 and was unlawfully sacked on March 10 this year. Earlier he was working with MindTree in Bangalore. In his complaint, he alleged that he was confined to a room for a couple of hours at a stretch on several occasions by the higher-ups, and asked each time to resign. “It all started when recession hit the IT business. As far as my knowledge goes, some seven to eight thousand employees have been sacked during the last couple of months. But looking at my 11 years of experience and good track record, I was not really bothered about my services being terminated,” he said.

In his complaint, he said, “I was confined by Anuradha Raju (Assistant Manager, TED, Testing Services, BFSI) in a conference hall inside the campus and was forced to sign on some blank papers. When I asked for the reason, she threatened that they would blacklist my name with NASSCOM and ensure that I did not get a job elsewhere.”

Ram has also accused Ganesh Halapeti (Senior Project Manager, AXA, Australia) of abusing him in vulgar language over the phone. “He threatened that if I did not sign on the blank papers, my career would be ruined. I was also ordered to come to the office and work despite being sick.” He also approached the HR Department about the incident, but no one paid heed to his grievance. “After I was sacked for no proper reason, I am in a state of shock and am facing acute financial problems.”

Saurabh Govil, Senior Vice-President (HR), Wipro Technologies said, “We have not seen the complaint and would not like to comment before seeing it. The ex-employee in question, Ram Mohan, was employed with Wipro. We will not be able to provide any specific information on the individual due to employee confidentiality.”

Govil said that the company would provide all the necessary co-operation and support to the investigating authorities in the matter. “We have a very robust process to deal with employee grievances. We have not had any complaints of this nature ever before. This may be an isolated case,” he said.

Similar incidents are happening even at Technopark and Infopark companies. for one or some other reasons those employees won’t complain.

  1. The past one week witnessed two young IT engineers committing suicide. While one of them was a Wipro employee, the other was employed with HCL. Both the engineers died by jumping from their office building.

According to a Silicon India report, Wipro engineer Vishal Yadav (29), had a BE in electronics and hailed from Madhya Pradesh. Since May 17, 2004, he was working with Wipro as a Business Analyst and had gone on leave for two months. Interestingly, he had put in his papers via e-mail and was supposed to be relieved of his duties on August 31.

At around 10:20 pm on Wednesday, Vishal jumped from the top floor of S-II building of Wipro that has 12 storeys. When security supervisors heard a loud thud, they rushed to the spot and found Vishal down with blood around his body. They took him to the hospital, but it was in vain as doctor declared him brought dead. Doctors said, “With multiple head, spinal and thigh fractures, he might have collapsed within minutes after the fall.”

Meanwhile, HCL engineer Vikas Kumar Sharma (26), hailed from Munger district in Bihar. Since January 1, 2009, he was working with HCL as Senior Network Analyst. He was living with a cousin in Delhi’s Katwaria Sarai area. Though he was on a official off on Wednesday, he decided to report for the duty. The company cab had brought Vikas to the office around 4.30 am. Around 5.50 am Vikas jumped from the 5th floor of the office building. He was rushed to a hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.

Police have been trying to find the reason of the deaths as they could not find any suicide note or any threat related information till now. In Vishal’s case, police framed eight questions and sent them to the human resources department of Wipro, but even after 24 hours, they were unable to get any personal details of the dead man. However, an HR executive of Wipro said, “We have been directed not to reveal any information or photograph of the employee. It is just that he had quit the job and was serving the notice period.”

A police officer said, “We are not ruling out murder. There are lots of unanswered questions and it is for Wipro to clear the doubts.”

In the case of Vikas, Noida’s Superintendent of Police (City) Ashok Tripathi said, “The company’s officials did not inform the police about the incident. Authorities at Max Hospital, where the victim was taken to, informed us.”

  2. Wipro should be black listed as employee un-friendly company.

  3. Are police afraid to arrest those perpetrators of crime.

  4. Business people have enough money, No policies are dare enough to touch them. pity s/w koolies.

  5. It is a big mistake to join in wipro.

  7. Hi All I am facing the same harassement problem from one of my wipro managers. When ever i call him he never respond to my call other way he will reply saying i am busy in meeting etc.
I have good track record and just doing favour to his friend he started harassing me. As i dont have other ways iam keeping calm.

Friends let me know how can i go with my situation.

Just i finished my project and came back to India from onsite.
There was an argument with onsite cordinator in one situation.
Keeping this as a point managers all started harassing.
I tried to explain why it happened every one just replying as he is senior we will take his words serious thats.

    I am really facing torture…

  8. Hi All,

Wirpo is again sacking employees by harassement and torturing the employee, that too they are mainly targetting people middle level people like consultant/Senior consultant/project leader and manager level peoples who are getting resonable pay,They call for discussion without mentioning the matter and then group of senior level peoples like TM/PM/DM/HR torture that guy/girl to resign immediately otherwise we will terminate, they won’t leave any traces of mail contents, everything they will try to handle by telephonic conversation, If any media is interested i can tell you the date and time that call i received on my mobile and how they have behaved. Also there are instances for freshers people joined 6 months back and they have sacked by giving bullshit reason.

Guys please speard this news to all your friends who ever may Freshers/College out/Latterals/Experience people to do not join this company, one day you also will face this problem.

  9. Hi,

I am trying to find some information about Vishal Yadav’s case. I met his parents few weeks back and they were clueless about this incident. I do not understand why media dont give proper attention to such cases.

As per the information revealed to his parents, he resigned from Wipro few months back and he was not supposed to enter the premises, but still he was there. Video that was shown to his parent is of the time well before this incident. I feel there is something suspicious going on in Wipro and everyone is quiet about it. Vishal was at onsite for quite sometime and there is no point he could committ suicide if he were to become jobless. All his friends are quiet because they dont want to take any risk in present market condition, but for god sake we are talking about a life here and lives of people who were dependent on him. If anyone of you has more info please get in touch with me.

  10. wipro started firing from last one year the this process is continuous, every month they are sending employee by harrasing and torturing the employee even last month wirpo fired many peoples that too most of them local kannadigas people because all the HR people are from difference states and they only process people from their state, Our kannada rakshana vedike people to teach the lesson for this company line how MNS is doing in maharastra. Our state people are peace loving people and satisfied with job and with out doing any poitics but in wipro all the top level management starts from HR department to till project management level all the other state people they have formed a group and firing maximum local people. All the vedikes in karnataka should question this and help our people.

  11. @ Ann : thanks for the region biased comment, i am a bit confused??? who r u first?? an INDIAN or a Kannadiga?… i have worked for 3 years in the south and it was hell…. i still dont understand the hardline mentality towards region and language….

all this talk of politics makes me think.. isnt it normal… come on people, it happens every where. i m sure u wuld have played it on someone , it feels bad only when we are at receiving end 😉 .

  12. “We have a very robust process to deal with employee grievances. We have not had any complaints of this nature ever before. This may be an isolated case,” he said.

Haha this is a joke. Wipro has too many such incidences. It is one of hte most unproffessional companies.

  13. It is alleged that wipro TED has paid huge money to Electronic city police to cover up all the cases involving wipro. There were only few suicides which were reported in media. Being in the company for many years I know that there were atleast some 50 suicides in electronic city and sarjapur road campus. Most of the wipro managers were involved in big scams. Interstingly only who knew more about these scams committed suicides.

  14. Sex sells best in wipro, women employees joining wipro BEWARE!

It is alleged that wipro’s apex HR bosses are mediating these illicit relationships. One such example is Chennai wipro employee “Manjula” whose tape is well-known over internet http://rapidshare.com/files/369234751/indian-mms-sex-scandal-video-of-wipro-employee-manjula-chennai-hot-girl-home-made-masala-clips.rar. Another case reported from Wipro cochin campus.Wipro Managers are a cluster of offenders playing rot with the wipro Senior leadership. Most of the managers make a fuss of forbidden activities within the company’s campuses. There was an allegation about intimate relationship of Shalendra Kumar, Project Manager with Shalini Macaden HR Manager in Wipro’s Horizontals . There is enough uncertainty about her kids paternity. Regrettably her spouse is ignorant of the facts. Equally there are frequent cases of paternity problems with horny wipro women employees. Wipro code of business ethics is a mere eyewash. Debate does not stop with this scandal. There is a bigger sting to this with top HR personal involved in funds dealings However for an normal person it looks unlikely that “How come a HR Manager at that level be involved in the financial fraud. The HR directors are encouraging these affairs to cover up their own financial malpractices. The proximity of these HR managers with the persons at director level is well known. However the Senior Director level hr Managers encouraging these forbidden affairs within the campuses still remains a mystery

  15. Wipro managers are implicated in scams, illegitimate terminations, suicides (murders), illicit sex racket, HR bribery, criminal activities. So this man(Azim Premji) is encouraging these activities to grow by leaps and bounds. How is the government allowing this man to get away with this.

  16. I am a peoplesoft developer and have been knowing Ganesh Halapeti for many years in australia. He rarely uses common words with his team members. Often he uses dirty and offensive language in Hindi. If he can’t control his anger he should get admitted to a hospital. It is quite obvious that he a chartered accountant. He doesn’t understand the technical stuff. When someone confronts he takes revenge. Wondering how a chartered accountant can guide software Engineers

  17. I know that police case was filed against 9 wipro managers.I also interacted with employees of wipro to get the insight of the accused managers

Sulekha Jagadish (Present Job – Program Manager)- Qual:
B Com, Working in wipro since 12 years. Being a non technical candidate she was in charge for allocating suitable resources to suitable projects. She is known to be using abusive language and interesting relationship with Gangadhariah(Sr Vice president, Testing services) and Keshava Kumar Handanahalu, now sacked by Wipro.

Anuradha Raju: Sacked from Infosys and then joined Wipro with the help of some insiders in the company. Ask any wiproite, all of them say that she is unfit for the job. Many highly skilled employees have seperated from the company- thanks to her slum dwellers language. She always use the word termination even for minor issues. known to have intimate relationship with Srinath Nittur Gopalakrishna Rao.

Keshav Kumar is not from IT background. He was a typical govt employee before he was recuited by wipro.

Ganesh halapethi is another non technical guy equipped with foul language and partisan attitude. Known to have amassed huge wealth by illegal means.

Vikram Mirani only supportive to particular community. Racist.Very abusive to south Indians. Huge wealth beyond his known sources of income.

Sanjay babu Srinivasan is fit to be a political leader. Better he joins any political party than spoiling innocent employees.
Ankur Chadha – known to be fond of only money. She can go to any extent to amass money
Sreerenganathan Group head is most cunning of them all. He was involved in big fraud in the Telecom domain. Known to be having cherished relationships with his female colleagues. His name is common in police records.
Shalini Macaden, HR who is famous for her sexual adventures within wipro campus.

  18. @surendra,

Are these people still emplyed with wipro ? No action taken against them ?

  19. IF THESE KIND OF PEOPLE ARE NOT SACKED ITS A QUESTION MARK ON COMPANIES CREDIBILITY…POWER SHOULDNOT CORRUPR SENIORS..
COMPANY IS FOR THE PEOPLE OF THE PEOPLE AND BY THE PEOPLE,,

  20. thousands of wipro employees are resigning almost daily. Wipro is famous for spoiling careers of numerous employees. It will be a grave mistake for anyone who choose wipro as their next employer.

  21. It is well-known that shalender kumar, shalini Macaden, Manjula are the ambassadors to used by the managers in wipro’s Financial unit to protect their illegal mechanism Even today there are abiding their financial scam. Unquestionably there should be some gain to the offenders. Wipro management is simply overlooking this truth

  22. Yes Completely agree with this all comments.
Wipro is one of the worst career spoling company. One of my friend worked in Wipro BPO as as manager for 7 years as group lead and Senior managers came to know that he is looking for a different job.

They forcefully made him to resign the job with the help of TED people.
Also there are so many people in wipro BPO as Managers,Techleads, Senior Managers who Does not even have a Degree. They keep Speaking Foul languages and no good words will come from their mouth.
