Renovation Started in Kazhakootam Market

kmarketTechnoparkToday.com>> The Renovation work of IT city (Kazhakootam) Market was inaugurated by Fisheries Minister Shri. K Babu on 22nd of Jan ‘15. The overall budget allocated for the development is ~250 Lakhs, out of which ~200 lakhs will be afforded by National Fisheries Development Board. And the remaining amount will be paid by Kerala State Government.

The Hi-tech/Advanced Fish market is planned to have around 96 stalls with provision of wash basins and drainage systems fully implemented. The entire space of 625 sq mtr will be utilized in full fledge without giving a chance of wasting the space.

The construction will be governed by National Fisheries dept. Once when the renovation is completed, it will be handed over to Kazhakootam Panchayath. Panchayath holds the responsibility of conducting the auction to rent/lease out these stalls as well as the maintenance after the handover.

-No more role for third party agency, so customers can get fresh sea food
-Industrial Tile will be used for entire flooring, which reduces the chance of water stagnation.
-Chill Room for freezing
-Separate stalls for dry sea foods
-Flake Ice Unit which reduces the risk of ammonia usage
-More hygiene & cleanliness.

The entire project is expected to complete in next 8-12 months. Due to the renovation work, currently the market is now shifted to parallel street (just pass 5 shops/buildings from the renovation location.
