  1. Still Trivandrum is the only Major City in South India with a proper shopping mall

  5. The location is MG Road, Thiruvananthapuram.

  6. Went to Pothys on 18.09.2011.The work of the showroom not complete it will take 3 more months i don’t know why they have opened without completion. The Carparking provided was horrible water logged.I regret to go there that day.I went there with lot of expectation and was totally disappointed

  7. pothys is extremly amaizing

  8. Someone commented that ‘Still Trivandrum is the only Major City in South India with a proper shopping mall”. Is he a frog in the well? Forget about big shopping malls in Bangalore..you come to cochin and see Oberon Mall, Gold Souk Mall and Nucleus Mall. I don’t mention about Emmanul silks which is 5 times bigger than Pothys in Trivandrum. Even The Chennai silks in Cochin is bigger than Pothys showroom in Trivandrum. I don’t mention about the 22 lakh sq feet Lulu mall which will be open by 2012. What is that guy who commented like that thinking? once again, i’m forced to ask: is he a frog in the well?

  9. I think he intended to say ‘only city without a proper shopping mall’ as Thiruvananthapuram has none yet.

  10. @Arun. you are right

  11. Those are good comments RENJU & ARUN. You said it right. TVM people are big FROG IN THE PONDS. They think that TVM is the best city to live!. LOL LOL LOL.

Just come to Kochi, they will have shut their mouths for sure.

skyscrapers everywhere, all religions found, all sports accepted, breaking records.
Just leave it, Kochi is developing too FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAST!.

  12. @Arjun

I have roots in both Tvm and Kochin. Both have its own merits and demerits. We should not behave like Pakistan and India. Advocate for the growth of both cities.

  13. A guy named renju seems very upset with the comment from Prasad, nothing to be too srious about that, i believe, renju is the real frog, who don’t want to come out of the well.. pls don’t compare about the shopping facilities…each city has its own merits & demerits… Kochi has big shopping malls, at the same time with numerous mosquitoes also… TVM is a small city with less shopping malls, but the treasure vested with Lord Anantha Padmanabha is immensely rich than any other town in asia.. so let us be more diplomatic & sensible…

  14. Deat Vinu, I have lived in TVM right from my childhood till i finished my education. Only after that i came to Cochin. So, i made a sane and logical comparion. That’s all. Nothing more. ha ha ha…Cochin city is much bigger than my home town(only a town) Trivandrum. I would say, the whole Ernakulam district is a big city!

  15. Renju you are absolutely right and just see the potentiol of that city in the coming years.. without the government support this city ihas grown so far and still growing and became one of the top 10 cities in terms of growth in india. If goverment properly add the nearby metro unicipalities like maradu , trikakkara, kalamasserry and tripunithura it will become one of the rtop ten cities in india in terms of population also .They still counting the population of the corporation coz it has not been expanded for more than 30 years!!! can you imagine that 30 years!!!

  16. Let me deviate the topic to original topic:

Went to Pothy’s few months back.

    – Horrible parking – for both 2 & 4 wheelers. Shopping @ peak time is a nightmare.

    – I don’t know why they insist us to make payments in each floor for each floor purchases
    – Cost is very high when compared to few other shops in the city. I got shocked to see a Rs. 120/- sticker when I removed a Rs/- 420 sticker.
    – Visited Jayalekshmi recently and found they got more selections than Pothy’s. Parthas selection method is still old school.

  17. I tend to disagree with Praveen about the selection in Jayalekshmi.I have been to both Jayalekshmi & Pothy’s with my family.Comparatively Pothy’s gents branded section is good with lots of selection and kids section’s also good.

Jayalekshmi gents section is a real mess.I think Parthas has far better selection than both Pothy’s & Jayalekshmi

  18. @renju… ur comment seems to me like after marriage someone is saying my wife house is super.. what a bloody home i lived so far.. if you are blaming your home town so badly, but from that town only you became what ever you are now… Comparing between two cities doesnt make any sense…

  19. Ranju said only the truth Mr Lal.. he d’nt lied or tried to repeat the same lie 1000 times to convert it to a truth to the people who had never seen both cities as some others does.He had come to Kochi, settled here and now living peacefully , earning well and settled .He had become a Kochinite . Thats the sign of a cosmopolitan city .
If any other person from kerala tries to settle in trivandrum for any , will you guys treat him as a Trivandrumite?? wil lnever happen .Coz it s a sma
ll town and can be identified in terms of speaking style and living habit.

Cosmopolitan cities have a nature that whoever comes to that city it iself absorbs and make a part of that city .. so dont be so sentimental in comparing with a wife’s place .Now he is a kochiite , and he cannot live in your place for more as he use to the pace and living style of a real Metro!!!
