Open Innovation Space Launched for young IT Entrepreneurs

TechnoparkToday.com>> June 18, 2014:  Technopark- Technology Business Incubator (TBI) has launched the much- awaited Open Innovation Space initiative called “OpeniSpace” to promote young entrepreneurs across Kerala.

The “OpeniSpace” was inaugurated by Hon’ble Minister for IT and Industries Shri P K Kunhalikutty in the presence of Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Oommen Chandy on the sidelines of a function that marked the formal announcement and logo launch of Young Entrepreneurs Summit (YES) at Mascot Hotel here on Tuesday.

“The government has taken various steps to promote young entrepreneurs. The main objective of the initiative is to create an entrepreneurship culture among youth in Kerala,” said the IT minister in his inaugural address. He added that the project would provide employment to large number of professionals in the state. The Open Innovation Space is a joint initiative of Technopark-TBI and RIW (Rajdhani Technologies- Istrian Technologies- Waybeo Ventures).

The “OpeniSpace” huts, set up at the Technopark campus, offer 50 free email IDs, software licenses, virtual work spaces, servers, cloud infrastructure and other hardware requirements for start-ups at a minimum monthly cost. Concepts like Bring Your Own Device (BYOD), Platform As A Service (PAAS) and Software As A Service (SAAS) will also be promoted. In addition to this, the park will provide Data Farm, which provides data storage facility to companies operating in the campus at a much lower cost with the support of HP Cloud services and IBM BlueMix for which the T-TBI has already signed MoUs.

Smt Aruna Sundararajan IAS, Managing Director, Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC), Shri P H Kurian IAS, Principal Secretary (IT), Shri. K G Girish Babu, CEO, Technopark, Shri Hrishikesh Nair, CEO, Technopark -TBI , Dr K C Chandrasekharan Nair , Managing Director, TBI, and Dr Biju Ramesh , Chairman of RIW Consultancy Services were present on the occasion.

The YES will be held in Kochi on September 12. The Summit is being organised by KSIDC in association with Kerala IT, Technopark, Technopark TBI, Infopark, KINFRA, Startup Village, TiE and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
