Kochi Smart City issue: Dubai Government to intervene

The Dubai Government will put pressure on Tecom, the promoter of the project, to remove the hurdles obstructing the launch of the Smart City, here.

This is on the basis of the talks held by Indian UAE envoy M K Lokesh with the Dubai Government.

Tecom had been demanding freehold right over 12 percent of the land, which was opposed by the Kerala Government. M A Yusuf Ali had recently held talks with the Tecom to find a solution to the issue. Meanwhile, it is learnt that Fareed Abdul Rahman will continue as the CEO of Smart City.

Once smart city comes up, it will be a threat to technopark.
    Growth in technopark will retard.

  2. No man, you are totally mistaken, Nothing can replace the technopark and its influence, and its power. Cochin is already saturated and polluted and there are no more hopes for a big project like smart city. So,. Let the people live in better roads and better traffic, less pollution and less mosquitoes..

Provide sufficient infrastructure first and then dream about anymore projects…

  3. Kochi is already polluted and there are no space for such projects. They should look for space somewhere near the Kochi Airport where there are plenty of space and also close to Air and Rail service.

  4. I think Kochi can do very well without Smart city anyways. It is not necessary really considering the high no of projects announced and already on its way to inauguration like the ICTT, LNG terminal etc. Mega stuff!
