Govt’s own mobile app store coming?

The Government of India is planning to create its own application store to aid the delivery of a number of public services through mobile phones.

There will be an integrated payment gateway that will enable users to pay for public services through their mobile phones. A mobile applications (m-apps) store will be launched to facilitate this, and integrated into the Mobile Services Delivery Gateway (MSDG), which is the core infrastructure for delivery of public services. The store will be created by an agency within the Department of Information Technology, Government of India. It will have the provision to connect with private value added service providers for creation of various mobile applications.
