Don’t Sprint the Marathon – A Session on Parenting

Date: 1600 Hrs; 27 August, 2011;

Venue: Hotel Classic Avenue, Trivandrum

Young Indians (Yi), the youth wing of The Confederation of Indian industry (CII) is organizing a session on parenting -‘Don’t Sprint the Marathon’ on Saturday, 27 August 2011 at Hotel Classic Avenue from 4pm to 6pm. The session would be led by Mr V. Raghunathan, former professor at IIM Ahmedabad. Mr. Raghunathan is also a renowned columnist and speaker and has authored the books- Don’t Sprint the Marathon and Games Indians Play.

As ambitious parents, we often push our children to excel in ways that may help them achieve some early successes. Our obsessive rush to get our children off to a good start overlooks the fact that in life, as in a marathon, early lead hardly matters, but may leave our children lacking in many of the essential life skills that a normal childhood would teach them. Mr V. Raghunathan offers an alternative approach that can be even more rewarding: life, he avers, is a race but is definitely not a sprint, and it does not in the long run matter very much if you missed out on the best school, college or job starters. As long as you give yourself the time to develop your personality and skills, you will still get where you want, at your own pace and perhaps far more happily.

Yi brings forth to you an opportunity to introspect and share experiences with a group of individuals going through a similar phase in life, under the guidance of an expert who has done extensive research on one of the subjects of utmost concern to each one of us – parenting. As the session is on Parenting, couples are encouraged to attend this session and the registration fee is Rs 1000/- per couple. For registrations please contact Ms Harsha Reghu at 9946046651 or write to [email protected] and follow us on FB at http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=260952087251049
