The Technopark Circus!

Have you seen Circus anytime recently? If not, its right here in front of Technopark Main gate.

Time                 – 8.15 AM to 9.30 AM/5.00 PM to 7.00 PM.
Characters         – 5 Traffic lights, 2 traffic officials, drivers & fellow pedestrians.

Ticket charge??? “Come on man, its a free show!”

Scene 1: One traffic guy will come & stand in the extreme left of the road, another one in the right side that, too in the middle of the road. One will say ‘stop’, the other will say ‘go’. Driver confused, pedestrians scratching head. Then illuminates the red light. The one who said ‘go’ got confused. The other person stares hard @ him.

Scene 2: Characters, the same as in scene 1. Not much of pedestrians, but yeah, lot of vehicles. Suddenly, one among them shown a sudden stop. Maruthi 800’s bonnet underneath an Ambassador cars’ dicky. What did I do?, He yelled ” Hey! go & check the break you @#%#$^$%&$op9 “. The other one supported him. ” Oh yeah, what he said is correct you know “. Behind Maruthi 800, a long queue. Vehicles honking. They both murmured, ” Nammalu Kalloor undakkiya traffic jaminte athreyum vannilla “. Now, there comes a respectable senior official in an activa scooter shouting loudly ” What the……. is happening here around?? “. They both replied ” Yes Sir, Traffic jam Sir “. Senior official ” Oh, Is it?, then come, lets go “. Pedestrians & Drivers again scratching head. They still thinking whether they need to wait for more time to cross the road. Hey, its office time!

Its not a funny piece of drama. Its a mere reality happening now a days. Do you know when this has started? Simply, when the traffic lights are placed in front of the main gate. Either traffic officials controls or let the traffic signals do it.

However, if you need to be safe; u stop, u think & then go ahead according to the road situation. But give due respect to those who manage traffic, no matter whether its a man or a machine.

Wanna try out for a ride? Be there at the time mentioned above. All the best!

  1. Very well said Adharsh. I am one of the unfortunate persons who need to cross the bye-pass to get into technopark every day. Other than the confusion created by the traffic wardens (Are they?) pedestrians also cause a lot of problems. Though there are two palces marked for pedestrians, every one will stand in front of the vehicles that are queued up on both sides of bye-pass. Many times, I caught by surprise to see some guys standing right in front of my car when I am in the middle of the road. And they don’t care how many vehicles are on the road. They will take their time to move to a side. If you honk, they will stare at you.

This is god’s own country and we are 100% literate people and we are living in a free country. So every one has freedom to walk on the road even if it causes is traffic block. 🙂

  2. Cirus or circus?
Don’t trust Rs 250/- microcontroller for your life.
Traffic block nothing compared to Sreekaryam, Pongumoodu,Ulloor.

Coming at 60+ km/hr through bypass, 90% of first time drivers will miss the traffic lights. No caution board or yellow strips across the road to warn about traffic light

  3. they can at least put a speed breaker in highway. so that vehicles will slow down when they approach technopark gate.

The traffic lights and securities are really confusing. in addition to that, during the evening, the advertisement display board( placed just opposite to the main gate ) is very annoying and distracts the attention of many drivers. that is placed too low than it is supposed to. i never seen any electronic display board too lower, so that it creating much nuicense to the travellers.

  4. hahhaa….haa… too funny……..
    Adars.. you told it man…

  5. @ Yamuna

Bypassil speed breaker ittaal vivaramariyum 😉

  6. Didn’t get into TP thru frontgate for a long time. Being using the back gate. Waiting to see the circus, Adarsh. 🙂

  7. Take care ourselves. Thanks for the comments 🙂

  8. Those 2 clowns sweating it out in the sun are totally unnecessary. They only cause more confusion and chaos than the average human mind. They are always in disagreement. One says Go the other says Stop lol! I would have appreciated them if they could stop at least one car which overtakes you through the wrong side to enter the park! I was shocked to see a Park Centre car (white fiesta with ETPK board) entering through the wrong side and the security guy saluting!!!

  9. Adarsh… How true…!! It really is a shame what is going on everyday in front of the Main gate.

What i don’t understand is why are the traffic wardens still there. I thought the sole purpose of installing traffic lights was to reduce traffic and replace the wardens. Instead they decided to stay back and help the traffic lights. Gosh!!! I think they are creating history here.

And since many of the drivers coming through the bypass wouldn’t be aware that traffic lights have been installed WARNING BOARDS must definitely be placed before them. Otherwise as usual they will just ram through the left or rite of the vehicles without knowing.

Technopark Committee if you are reading, please take immediate action to resolve this….

  10. hahaha…i can’t laugh anymore. nobody can describe it better than this.
this is exactly happening everyday there. there is a total mess up in front of technopark gate in rush hours.

  11. lol…The most tricky thing is to cross the road from the parallel road..huh the traffic guys causes utter confusion and there is not enough space to queue up opposite to the gate..the only solution is to widen the road and provide separate lanes for vehicles to technopark..

Also as yamuna said the electronic board just opposite to the main gate is very annoying..i haven’t seen such a bright display board anywhere..it distracts and blinds divers and pedestrians going out from the main gate…gosh..when will the authorities wake up…

  12. The biggest clowns are the B-Tech graduates or IT professionals(I’m one too) sitting in their cars and bikes. They don’t have any idea when it comes to driving according to traffic lights or any concept of lane driving.

    1. Stop lines are there for a purpose – use them.
    2. When cars and bikes start stopping at stop lines – pedestrians will start using zebra crossings.
    3. When cars stop bikes should not come swarming around double laning and basically making things difficult for traffic in the opposite direction.

The traffic wardens (“clowns” as they were called) there actually prevent a lot of IT professionals in a hurry to get into office from landing up at the pearly gates of heaven.

  13. one suggestion I have is to have a pedestrian crossing indicator incorporated into the traffic lights which would make it clearer for the more discerning pedestrians. For the rest it won’t matter either way.

  14. Great thread. I was thinking about writing about this on the day 1 they installed traffic lights.

  15. Disclaimer – The story below if resembles real life incidents that happened before Technopark last week, it is purely coincidental !

    Scene 3:
A Red WagonR (name changed :P) with an L board slowly trails an “Info” Bus (name changed ;)) to take a right turn, comming from Kovalam direction. Suddenly “Info” Bus stops in middle so that the driver can give more “local language info” to a naughty two wheeler. Then he zips past taking right turn. The naughty signal sees the poor “L board madam” in Wagon R and decides to play naughty. All of a sudden it stops blinking the right signal. Our “L board Madam” sees this when she is in middle of taking right turn. Obediently she stops in the middle of lane (What an idea Madamji…)! A bunch of two wheelers, Innova, Marutis and Ford encircle the Wagon R in no time, shutting of any oppurtunities to take reverse. Jam Jam Gatha Jam !

Smart Security Officer: Njaan illa sir ! Gayab !!!
    Bus from opposite direction: #Y#%^&@$##$#@
    Biker: Ninakku $@^$^*^^R&#$^*R^#$^
A Bolero (coming from wrong side!): #R#$R&#$R& eduthondu poo %^$^%$#

L board madam: Nanni aarodu njaan chollendu ….

What we need is a Timer to alert people taking cross turns, or atleast a Yellow signal. Or else it will be ppl who religiously follow the rules (without common sense .. err sorry madam), will be the most affected.

  16. The entire traffic is pathetic in and around Technopark, there is a great circus show happening in front of the technopark main gate, and inside – the things are much worse.

Inside technopark campus, the roads are pretty good and wide than Bypass road. the young professionals are trying their racing skills, and thus endangering the life of fellow pedestrians. the big show is in front of tejaswini building, since the food court is there, lots of people from bhavani usually cross that road, but the car/bike people, whenever they see someone is about to cross( through the zebra line of-course) they will apply accelerator. the pedestrians would be scared and many near to death incidents happened so far.

technopark should deploy some securities there and give preference to the pedestrians.

  20. There is a recent addition to cabbies in Technopark – a Xylo. The driver of this cab is too brash. He parks his vehicle in the middle of the road at Nila and is very reluctant to move when we sound our horns. That guy is tooooo arrogant.

  21. True man.. well said…. Its more than normal circus….
