Zoho Corporation Acquires Asimov Robotics

Azimov Robotics

Trivandrum July 2025: In a major boost to India’s robotics and deep-tech landscape, Zoho Corporation, the Indian multinational SaaS giant founded by Sridhar Vembu, has officially acquired Asimov Robotics, a leading robotics company headquartered in Kochi, Kerala. The announcement was made on July 2025 during the inauguration of Zoho’s new R&D campus in Kottarakkara, near Kollam, Kerala.

Asimov Robotics: Kerala’s Flagbearer in Humanoid and Industrial Robotics

Founded in 2012 by Jayakrishnan T, Asimov Robotics has earned national recognition for its advanced service robots, humanoid solutions, and automation platforms. The startup became widely known during the COVID-19 pandemic for deploying robots in hospitals to support frontline healthcare efforts—underscoring its capabilities in healthcare robotics and AI-powered automation.

Asimov’s product portfolio includes:

  • Humanoid robots for customer interaction and training
  • Assistive robots for elder care and rehabilitation
  • Robotic systems for industrial automation and disaster management
  • Research-oriented robotic platforms for academic and institutional collaboration

Zoho’s Strategic Investment in Kerala’s Robotics Ecosystem

This acquisition represents Zoho Corporation’s second major investment in Kerala’s robotics space. In 2022, the company had invested Rs. 20 crore in Genrobotics, a Trivandrum-based deep-tech startup known for its robotic scavenger designed to eliminate manual sewer cleaning across India.

By acquiring Asimov Robotics, Zoho strengthens its commitment to building an India-based R&D powerhouse focused on robotics, AI, machine learning, and next-generation automation technologies.

“This acquisition is a huge milestone for Kerala’s deep-tech innovation ecosystem. It reinforces Zoho’s belief in local talent, Make in India, and the future of robotics in India,” said a senior industry observer.

Kerala Emerging as a Hub for Robotics and Deep-Tech Innovation

With two major startups—Genrobotics and Asimov Robotics—now under its wing, Zoho is paving the way for Kerala to become a national leader in robotics research and development. The presence of an R&D campus in Kottarakkara signals long-term investment, job creation, and advanced skill development in the state.

The acquisition also aligns with India’s broader ambitions of becoming a global hub for robotics manufacturing, deep-tech exports, and AI-driven solutions.
