TEDxYouth@Trivandrum on 8th of June, 2013

TechnoparkToday.com >> The inaugural edition of TEDxYouth@Trivandrum, the first-of-its-kind event in the state will be held on June 8th, 2013.

In its inaugural edition TEDxYouth@Trivandrum conference aims to bring together creative minds, intriguing concepts and innovative ideas to a single platform. The TEDxYouth@Trivandrum team is not just a bunch of TED enthusiasts but is in fact a group, with firm conviction in the power of ideas to mold opinions and spark positive shifts in society. TEDx was created in the spirit of TED’s mission – “Ideas worth spreading.”

TED (Technology, Entertainment and Design) is a global set of conferences owned by the private non-profit Sapling Foundation, formed to disseminate “ideas worth spreading.” World’s greatest visionaries and achievers are invited to these conferences for sharing their thoughts and ideas. While TEDx, where x= independently organized TED event, is a group of local, self organized events conducted under the aegis of TED. TEDTalks combines speeches and demonstrations to spark in-depth discussions and interactions within a small group. Targeting the youth TED also has planned to host TEDxYouth event where there will be speeches by pros, TED videos, demonstrations and hands-on activities.

The motif selected for the TEDxYouth@Trivandrum event is ‘Kaleidoscope’. As different bits of colored glass and pebbles come together to weave a beautiful pattern within a kaleidoscope, the event also hopes to bring together some of the most creative ideas, activities and demonstrations to captivate and inspire the attendees.

The event will be enriched by noted personalities like Vasundhara Das, an artist, songwriter, composer, actress and environmentalist,Pulapre Balakrishnan, the economist trained at the Oxford and Cambridge University, Ira Trivedi an Indian novelist, yoga teacher, entrepreneur, and speaker, Suhani Shah an illusionist, psychosomatic counsellor and a powerful hypnotherapist, Shefali Kulkarni an academician, teacher and advocate of gender inclusion and Sreevas Sahasranamam a Doctoral Student in at the IIMK and an advocate for the future of solar energy in India.

TEDxYouth@Trivandrum  is supported by a strong team of enterprising and vibrant organizers whose honest commitment to the spirit of ‘greater good’ can be easily gauged from their involvement in other non-profit organizations such as Uni-Y Trivandrum, M.A.D and Paperman in the city.
