Prof P J Joseph’s ‘Stories of Ramayana’ published

TechnoparkToday.com(Oct,2013) – Renowned writer Sethu has said that the greatness of Ramayana lies in the power of its characters that provoke and influence the readers in a unique way.

In his address after releasing the book “Stories of Ramayana” penned by Prof. P. J. Joseph, president of the Toc H Public School Society and vice president of the Indian Society of Authors, Kerala Chapter at G auditorium here, Shri Sethu said that Ramayana was able to present several great values, “which we had lost owing to various reasons”, decades back itself.

Stating that various countries have different versions of Ramayana, Shri Sethu, who is also the Chairman of National Book Trust, said that Rama alone was not the main character in these versions.  He said that Lakshmana, Seetha and Ravana were also depicted as main characters in various versions of Ramayana.

Commenting on Prof.Joseph’s book, Shri Sethu said that it has been able to successfully narrate the story content in a language that students could easily register.

In his inaugural address, Justice V. Chidambaresh of Kerala High Court, said that Ramayana is one of the two great Hindu epics, the other being Mahabharata. He said that students should emulate the characters in Ramayana.

Justice Chidambaresh pointed that Prof. P. J. Joseph’s book is an important tool in the library of every student. The morals will percolate in to the minds of students by a mere reading of the book.

In a separate message, eminent jurist Justice V R Krishna Iyer hailed the book as a “magnificent work” that will “adorn libraries and class rooms where culture has a high place in the learning of humanity”.

Shri Sethu released the book by handing over the first copy to Dr. Pratima Asher, former Professor of English, St. Teresa’s College. Justice K. Sukumaran, president of Indian Society of Authors, Kerala chapter, presided. Prof. Joseph offered the response by the author.

T. A. Mathew of Avanthy Publications introduced the book. Adv K. D. Babu, Secretary General of INSA Kerala chapter offered the welcome address while Shri A. K. Puthussery, Treasurer, proposed the vote of thanks
