Ernakulam Bags State IT Fest Championship

The State School IT Fest 2011 held at the Technopark in Thiruvananthapuram saw Ernakulam District emerging as the overall winners with 87 points, with KPES High School Kayakkodi, Kozhikode and WOHSS Pinangodu, Wayanad bagging the best High School and Higher Secondary School prizes respectively.Â

Kozhikode District came second with 76 points, and Malappuram District came third. The prizes were distributed at the valedictory session by Anshu Vaish IAS, Secretary, Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, who, in her speech, highlighted the commendable use of free software in Kerala.Â

The second and last day of the State School IT Fest saw the finals of the IT Quiz and the Web Designing contests. Nine animation movies, conceived by students using free software, were also screened. A seminar on IT security was also conducted.Â
