January 4, 2013 – Chief Minister, Shri Oommen Chandy today dedicated a novel interactive art installation named Future Alliance to the techies at Technopark.  This installation – a fountain that works purely on solar and human power, has been commissioned by Allianz Trivandrum to commemorate their 10 years of presence in Technopark.

Inaugurating the interactive art installation Shri Oommen Chandy said, “Interactive art installation named Future Alliance is a very innovative idea where science and art meet together. “

The installation represents the planets of the solar systems traditionally called ‘Mandapas’ in Kerala which is represented by bicycles. Each bicycle is in turn connected to a different water jet within the fountain blasting water in various directions. Five sets of hands in the fountain represent the five oceans atop which is nestled a large globe. As water is cycled into the fountain, the globe spins. The solar power plan on site powers the LED lights positioned in and around the installation which are switched on with automatic timer to light up the entire structure at night. The space around the fountain can accommodate over 200-250 people and can be an outdoor venue for techies at the part to come and conduct open air meetings and innovation workshops.

“Future Alliance is a symbolic, interactive artistic installation that is part science and part sprinkle of magic. It is envisaged as a community space and at the same time lays the ground for innovative thought conveying sound messages about renewable energy, water, inter-personal relationships, our world and the universe. The idea germinated by Allianz to us was an added attraction to the pristine surroundings of Technopark. Inspired by the sheer concept, we pledged the space and the necessary support to make this idea into a reality. Future Alliance is first-of-its-kind initiative and we are supportive of all these kinds initiatives and an indoor kind of this will be of more attractive and advantageous when meetings and workshops are to be conducted for a larger number of people, ” said K G Gireesh Babu, CEO Technopark.

Rakesh Gupta, M.D of Allianz Trivandrum states, “Allianz will be completing successful 10 years in Technopark and we thought that developing a public space that provides inspiration for innovation is a befitting way to celebrate our success with the people of Technopark. We would continue to contribute to development of the community at Technopark as we did with Technopark Bicycle Club last year.”

“Through this installation we propose a playful provocation for Technopark professionals to reflect on the potential for alternative energy at the same time as interacting and participating in an innovative and fun space. The installation has been completely designed by local artisans and we are proud to have achieved a certain artistic brilliance using local and international design styles,” said Amit Passi, Director on Board, Allianz Trivandrum.

“Our vision is to inspire citizens of Kerala to take a lead in social innovation in domains such as clean energy, waste management and creative education. This was an unusual project for the iX team, but we decided to take it up as a fun provocation to reflect on the power of solar power and human power at a time of energy uncertainty,” says Alexei Levene, MD, iX, whose organization brought the concept to life.

Allianz is completing 10 years of operations in Technopark and this is a befitting way to celebrate its success with the people of Technopark. Allianz has invested 9 lakhs rupees on Future Alliance project.
