Samsung Galaxy NX – Mirror less Android Camera From Samsung

Samsung Galaxy NX

TechnoparkToday.com >> Samsung has bagged a top-notch place in smartphone and tablet segment with its successful Android operating system. Last year, the brand expanded its product range by offering a long-zoom camera with Android and cellular wireless capability. In the last week, there was yet another addition in the camera segment of Samsung.  It unveiled Galaxy NX- an Android based camera with interchangeable lenses.  This 20.3 megapixel camera is said to be in par with other high-end cameras. The camera is powered by an Android 4.2.2 Jelly bean and it functions smoothly with an in-built TouchWiz user interface and 1.6 GHz quad core processor.

The device will also host a 4.8-inch HD display, 2GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage memory , a microSD slot and 4G LTE (long term evolution)  connectivity. The camera will be powered by a 4,360 mAh battery- which would suffice for all- day use.  The built of the camera doesn’t differ much from its predecessor NX300, but adds NX lens mount, and DRIMe IV imaging processor to its specifications.  Its capacitive touchscreen display of 4.8-inch is touted as the largest display on any interchangeable lens cameras available in the market till date.

The camera resembles a big smartphone from the rear side.  On the front, it sports a plain DSLR look.  Samsung has been dependant on touch screen for most of the functions in the camera and uses only one dial on the rear.  This single dial can be used for multiple purposes like- shutter release, movie record button, power button, flash pop-up button and i-Function.

One of the most unique characteristic of this camera will be that it will run any Samsung application including Skype.  Though not being a smartphone, it can be used as a communication device to upload the images primarily. Transferring the images to smartphones and tablets for storage is also possible with Galaxy NX.

As the camera is equipped with phone-like features, the initial need of computers in a photo shoot is widely omitted. There are applications for filters and edits in-built in the camera. However, the applications are limited by the programs available on Android.

Overall, this smart camera looks like an interesting concept. More information will be available once it is launched in the market.
