Infopark IT Girl Attacked in Kochi

An IT engineer girl was subjected to brutal attack. The girl is identified as ‘Tasni Banu’ working in an IT company Infopark, kakkanad, Kochi.

This girl was attacked while she was traveling with one of her friends on bike. The people who attacked this girl was pretending the moral police, and they abused the girl both verbally and physically.

The Chief Minister of Kerala, asked for the explanation from police about this incident. It is very serious concern that, many girls are getting attacked by the anti socials in Kerala.
Another incident were reported in In Technopark, Trivandrum a few weeks back, that a girl was attacked by one of the temporary employees of a technopark company itself. but there were no police case was registered or reported in any of the media.

It seems that there are no proper authorities or organizations to take such attacks against the women, especially working in IT/BPO industries.

  1. This is really a frustrating incident.

Regionally speaking, Kakkanad area (the place where Infopark is situated) again proved – the place is still not recovered from goons.

  2. The state police is more interested in conducting checking near Technopark

  3. i think this is not a new/big story in India..especially in Kerala..even last week we hav seen a molester of age 13..can u blive that?mere 13…another incidents were like this..a 4 year girl was raped by an old man…daughter get raped by father..wow..perfect…still we are claiming that this is God’s own country.. wat d f***k???

  4. @Siva, it is not just a problem of India but all over the world.

Check local online news sites of any country, you will be surprised to see India is a little bit safe place.

According to recent survey, by order, below are the world’s dangerous places for women.

    1. Somalia
    2. Afghanistan
    3. Pakistan
    4. India

  5. Siva: wow..perfect…still we are claiming that this is God’s own country.. wat d f***k???.

Hi Siva, if you can use the word “f***k” here in a social network like this; then can you please explain what quality do you have to question the quote “God’s own county”, or then what is the difference b/w you and the above said people.

About the new; I read from one of the newspaper that the above mentioned girl named Tasni missed her cab so one of her friend gave her a ride to her office. She missed her cab bcoz she was late, bcoz of some of her personal reasons, leave it.

In technopark, I am working in a small company; even my cab will wait for 10 to 15 mins if we call the driver or someone else in the cab and ask to wait. Can anyone tell me why she didnt do that?

Can anyone of you expain me, (she was late) then why she get down on the way to her office., she wanted to get more late or what?
For coffee? Don’t she have a coffee vending machine in her office. so sad.

To have food, don’t she have canteen inside infopark.?

The same newspapers reported 1 or 2 years back that the toilets in technopark are filled with condoms. You all technies what to make our culture like this ???

I apologize to those who disagree with me. Sorry techie. What I wrote here is my Right to express my thought.

  6. ???

World’s dangerous places for women. He he, we MEN make those places dangerous for women right PraVeeN.

  7. OFFTOPIC: Darsanraj, F**K is not such a bad usage after all. It is certainly better than the other local varieties.

Whether Tasni took a cab or not to go home is not of significance here.
Whether Tasni stopped by for a drink, coffee or cigarrette again is purely personal.

Are we trying to say Women should not work in BPOs or work late because there are some jobless locals hanging around to pick on them? Are we saying that women should ONLY eat in the canteens and not elsewhere? Why do cops not check on random jobless men hanging around on their benches till late night?

Oh and you dispute the use of condoms. Stuffing condoms down the drain is surely bad civic sense. But using condoms is a good thing. Are you saying that nobody should use condoms or even that the act of courtship itself is bad?

BTW, I hate the coffee in the vending machine at work. I go out to drink coffee everytime I need one…

  8. @ Darsanraj,

Reason for being late, its her personal life, leave it.

As long as she was not doing any immoral activity in the middle of road, she got right to walk around any time. Definitely we need to obey the rules, and hidden-rules of land.
Here she was on a bike and no any immorality reported so far. So what is the morality of this attack?

    >> To have food, don’t she have canteen inside infopark.?

Unfortunately, Infopark is not yet 5% technopark. There are only few restaurants inside infopark and all close around 7pm.

    >> World’s dangerous places for women. He he, we MEN make those places dangerous for women right PraVeeN.

Not necessarily. Eg: look at KSA

  9. @Darsanraj,

For Whetever reasons, nobody is supposed to ask any of them, because thats her personal life. and her personal choice ( cab, coffe, bike, etc…). NOBODY in this country is supposed to ask her such questions, or questioned her because of any of such things…

Here the question is, Why these people are becoming moral polices and insulting such a women in the middle of the road. She has every liberty to travel and live as per her choice, and she deserves every protection and rights having any other person especially a man in this country.

Our people are really sick, especially the so called mallu’s. they think they are in the top of such moral practices, and everybody knows their true color… I travelled extensively in every part of india, but i faced such nabbing and insulting incidents in public places in kerala only. especially in Trivandrum and in cochin.( Malabar side is much better and safer places..trivandrum is the worst)

So Darsanraj, don’t try to become another moral police in this discussion.

  10. Kerala is becoming one of the unsafe places for women.

Better advice: Keep a pepper spray with you always. and whenever you face such a situation, just spray…

i think technoparktoday store having the pepper spray : http://www.store.technoparktoday.com/

  11. well said saritha… i also felt like Trivandrum the worst place in Kerala..Cochin is much better..( dnt misundrstnd..i m not frm cochin anyway 🙂 ) but in every places there will be good n bad ppl.. here i think the thing is that the ppl we mostly have to deal with is this kind of nasty ppl…for eg: auto drivers..local agents for getting an accommodation, restaurant guys etc. Just keep out of locals, that’s all we can do..

Sorry if anyone get hurt by my comments..i didn’t mean that in anyway..

  12. >> Our people are really sick, especially the so called mallu’s. they think they are in the top of such moral practices, and everybody knows their true color

The ones you met are bad, just not mean all are like that. I don’t believe every ‘mallus’ sitting around you are sick.

Well, a level of moral police fear is definitely required and is there everywhere in the world with variable intensity from culture to culture – and it is that fear, feel like a ‘protection’ for parents about their daughters and sons.

I second binu – get pepper spray from http://www.store.technoparktoday.com/

  13. me again

i do agree to ramshakles, but you have to promise me that you are ready to marry a girl who did lots sex with others using condoms or if u r married u will allow ur wife to safe sex with others according to her wish. Man indian woman do need to have some culture. U can post bla bla when u hear news, but when it comes to ur life will u be ready to sacrifice our culture.

  14. @darsanraj, knowingly or unknowingly you will get a women who used to see lots of condoms, you haven’t any other option even if you are picking your partner not from IT.

The only thing with the IT people is they do it openly, and things will others is they are doing it behind the walls… so dont you think you deserve a better comment?

  15. @saritha
as per u said in brackets like cab coffee and etc…does that etc include bar, brothels etc etc…and nobody has the right to question about it …does that mean ur father or mother have no rights ? when parents fail to do their responsibilities sometimes society indulge on it..

also u say our people are sick… think of ur parents before u say that. and if u have travelled a lot and u feel here is the worst then either u have just travelled in a silly cab or u r blind. u should atleast hear the news about MP.

about malabar u should visit some sites like debonairblog and will never say that again.. hope u r not from malabar.

there are fathers taking daughters lately on byke back home and there are husbands …and even friends, not all are been beaten everywhere. If a issue happens there could be some reasons. i said could be not there is.

as per indian penal code a girl of 16 years may have the freedom to sex. will u give that freedom if it was ur daughter…step into your shoes and think atleast

i am not trying to be the so called moral police but ill support for someone who has been, although what happened may or may not be morally correct.

    @jinu

whatever u say if there are some restrictions i may get a chance for fresh one. but if this is the way it goes think of yourselves, you dont even have a chance to get a better one.

read how Mr praveen is changing his point of view in his last para

  16. @jinu
    >> The only thing with the IT people is they do it openly, and things will others is they are doing it behind the walls… so dont you think you deserve a better comment?

    Really?
Unfortunately, my 14 years of IT life in Technopark, Infopark, Hyderabad and Bangalore (even though on short periods) did not let me see this “truth”.

    @Darsanran
    >> read how Mr praveen is changing his point of view in his last par
Not sure whether this is a negative statement for me. Well, I did not change any of my view point. I was just expressing my view-point. Did I miss any contradictory statements?

  17. @Darsanraj,

A Girl who is 18+ years old having every rights to travel with anyone, at anytime, to anywhere. Nobody hasnt any rights to question her, for whatever reason.

Also, please note that a matured individual having the rights to travel or stay or even be in a relationship ( including sexual, provided for not money ). Nobody can question that.

So, our laws are giving protection to the citizens in that extend. there are no roles for the individual moral polices, or even for the original polices.

I’m a legal expert, and I can say it without any confusions. Also if they sue anyone who interrupted or disturbed them in their personal privacy, our laws are such perfect that, those intruders will be put behind the bars.

  18. @Ramachandran

Hello Mr. Law expert, a girl doesnt have to wait until the age of 18 to have sex. A girl can have sex at the age of 16 itself as per Indian Law. And there is no problem if she takes money for sex, the only problem arises if a third person gets the benifit from that doings.

All are saying the word PERSONAL and RIGHTS. My only question is that will you people allow your children to execute their RIGHTS, if they want to do so even at that age.

Lesbian and Gay marriages are also LEGAL in our county, will you people allow your children to marry one who is of his/her same gender.

Why you people are not thinking anything from your ankle of view???

  19. The interesting part of the news is the character of the girl. She actually challenged the people who verbally abused her. And I hear she had done it before years ago against some NDF moral police too. In a way it is good that it happened to her because another girl would have fled the scene saving her skin and kept quiet about it. But the fighter she is, challenged the attackers, filed a police complaint and when they did not adequately respond took it further to the media and NGOs knowing fully that she will be further attacked by armchair moral police casting aspersions on her character.

She has brought the issue of fearless travel for women out into the open and now everyone has to discuss it. In fact she is fighting for all the silent sufferers who may not even support her. Then one thing I know about fighters is that they do not look over their shoulders for backup when they do what they have to do.

Way to go girl ! Let your tribe increase.

  20. It is also interesting that as there is a direct way from Palarivattom to Infopark, why they went to NGO quarters?
If you are a member of an organization , do u have the right to beat some one?
Hi guys , if it was your sister, and the fellow who brought her there was cheating her, then the interference of locals were good or not??

  21. @Arun/Anil,

Manhandling is a brutal act. There were lot of methods to handle this situation than this goon method, right?

Now I can see from some social media that the culprits started ‘self marketing’ to save their face.

  22. its purely a classic case of SOUR GRAPES and SEX HUNGRY GOONS……… she was standing near her bike when her friend went to the shop……. these culprits approached her thinking that she will full fill their sexual desire……and when they found out that they were wrong and they are in trouble, they started moral policing to save themselves……… Actually these kind of people should be treated in some mental hospital so that they should come out from their sex filled minds……instead these people are encouraged by politician, police and similar ill minded people……!!
the very interesting fact is that the very next day DYFI, Ernakulam unit had condemned the whole incident and the same day DYFI, Kakkanad unit took out march and protested in N.G.O. Quarters junction in support of the Culprits……. God save kerala…….!!!

  23. Girls traveling at night should be taken a pepper spray or any other self defense systems with them. when someone attempt to do something wrong, then they can use and save themselves in such situations.

Why our girls and ladies are forgetting to take measures to save themselves?

This is time time for the general awareness about the self safety.

  24. I’m really getting ashamed to hear such news about our kerala. people says we are the most literate people, but the most number of abuses and harassment are happening in kerala only.

our people are simply psychic and they see the girls in the road as a material to satisfy their urges. Why they can’t think about their mother or sister or even their wives, and consider the fact that they are also needs to face this once, by somebody else.

Violence against the women is getting increased day by day and the rates are really alarming. kerala is becoming an unsafe place for ladies, it seems.

Ladies should be aware about the growing violence against them and prepare to face that when they are in the public.

Moral polices should be treated accordingly. they are not other than a group of sick and desperate people, looking for a chance to utilize the girls ,and when they are not allowing it, the people will wear the gown of the moral polices and start abusing them.

We need to put a stop for this phenomena. Girls are having the equal rights as the boys and they are free to travel and stay with anyone of their choice. nobody can question them for that, and if anyone dare to question them should know the taste of their own medicine.

  25. How can we walk on the streets of kerala? i’m feeling really bad when read this news. What happened to our people? I think the places were secure 10-20 years before. who to blame? new media and our culture? all of our males became maniacs? can’t they think anything else towards the ladies ?

One thing they have to remember is, this is the same destiny for their mother, sisters and wife when they are coming out.

  26. @nitya, don’t go into conclusions. These 1-2 incidents does not mean all “males” regularly do this everyday.

  27. Just saw news on TV, the main guy got arrested.

  28. Good news. whoever is the culprit, should be sentenced in such a way that, nobody will raise their hands like this against women.

  29. every boys want girls and every girls want boys except gays and lesbians, look at the advts, films, novels, stories men are after women, that is the basic principle of our life, attract each other and reproduce, girls expose their parts inside or partially exposed to attract a good male who is capable of giving her a better and secure life with babies. boys want to spread their genes to as much as girls, but our evolved society restricts it, so he has to do it secretly and the main point is when a boy do this in secret a girl is also doing it in secret with him. so stop this hulla bulla, some girls got more male hormone so they acts like males, also the verbal attack was done by some rich guys then she may be felt it as a approval for her beauty. this is too complex to discuss.

  30. please open red light area in kerala so like in mumbai then this like problem will solved, i appreciate that bold girl. all law makers have security what have ordinary person have in india

  31. @nitya. Pls dont say all males. There are few
