e-Movie Ticket solutions from Technopark

Watching a movie at Kairali and Sri theatres in the city will soon be  more easy. That is, if you are not fond of flexing your muscles to see your favourite star on celluloid.

The Kerala State Film Development Corporation (KSFDC), under which  the two movie houses come, has decided to launch e-ticketing here. Very soon, film buffs can book their seats online, check for reservations, time schedules and look for timings from the comfort of their home.

“It’s perhaps for the first time that e-ticketing is being introduced in Kerala. Everything is going digital these days, so such a facility might attract more families to the theatres,’’ said N. Ayyappan, KSFDC Chairman.

A special software has been developed by a Technopark company for the purpose. With the approval of the State Government already in its  pocket, the KSFDC was waiting for the nod of the City Corporation in this regard, which was granted by the Council on Friday.

Since a considerable amount is paid as entertainment tax to the Corporation, approval from the local body is a must. As of now, tickets are issued to public on the basis of existing government rules. The e-tickets must also carry all information that paper tickets do. Once the facility is launched on a pilot basis, necessary amendments will be made in the government rules.

The software that is to be set up for e-ticketing must have the approval of the State Government.

The Council has also demanded that the software must provide facility for the local body to check the entertainment tax details. For this, a similar software will be installed at the Corporation for proper networking and the service of an IT officer from Kerala State Urban Development Project (KSUDP) will be utilised, Deputy Mayor V. Jayaprakash told the Council. However, the necessary steps for its implementation must be initiated by the KSFDC.
