IT Company Canteens among Customers of unsafe Tea brand ?

amutham tea copyTechnoparkToday.com>> The Food safety department has recently nabbed a group which indulged in the distribution and sale of used tea dust and factory waste.  Following a raid, the department has banned sale of Amurtham Premium Tea, which contained carcinogenic coloring agents.  According to the food safety officials, the customer list of this group, shockingly, include the canteen of Infosys too.

When the food safety officials checked the godown of the group, it found a diary containing list of their customers. The diary contained list of institutions which they distributed the tea dust and it include canteen of Infosys.

According to Food Safety department, the coloring agents used in the tea dust are unsafe for human consumption and are cancer-causing if used on a daily basis.  It was made from used tea powder and tea factory waste.  It was added with artificial coloring agents and flavors at godowns in a clandestine manner.  The Food safety department has initiated action against the group.

Lack of proper mechanism to check the safety of food used in canteens and hotels within Technopark is a cause of concern, especially when a large number of techies depend on outside food during working hours.  Food items such as sauce and pickle are bought to canteens in large cans, without proper labeling, which is mandatory as per food safety guidelines.

Recently a techie, who experienced a bad taste in sauce in a restaurant in Technopark, enquired about the brand.  He got a reply that there was no particular brand and it came in bulk.

On behalf of Technopark employees, we request food safety department to conduct an inspection within food outlets and canteen operating inside Technopark campus.
