Infopark Bicycle Club Launching on June 4, 2013

TechnoparkToday.com>> June 2, 2013:  Minister of Industries and IT, PK Kunhalikkutty will launch Infopark Bicycle Club on June 4, 2013, at 4 p.m. at Athulya, Infopark.  The club will be launched with 50 bicycles and 8 racks.  The bicycles would be available for use of all employees of infopark from June 5, the World Environment Day.

Anybody with a mobile can join the club, free of cost, by just sending an SMS (more details would be mentioned on the rack board).  Members can take a bicycle from any rack and return to any rack. They can also take the bicycle outside the campus. This service is available 24×7 as all operations are fully automated and done through SMS.  Rs. 2/- per hour will be charged as usage fee, but night usage from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m, is free.  Each member would get a credit of Rs. 100/- (50hrs of usage) beyond which, the users have to make payment by dropping money in the drop box kept at each rack.

IBC, is a collaborative effort of several companies, such as Wipro, HDFC bank, Fragomen, Litmus7, Calpine Solutions, and UVJ Technologies, contributed startup infrastructure and entered into an agreement for maintenance of the cycles.  Some other companies have also assured to contribute to the network soon.

The Bicycle Club will be managed by Athi’s Bicycle Club (ABC), India’s first SMS-based cross-city bicycle network, which is a brain child of Athirup MS, a Trivandrum based engineer.  ABC is also managing bicycle clubs in Trivandrum city, Kochi, and Technopark.
