MobME developed mobile app to help NIA

A mobile application developed by Trivandrum Technopark-based MobME Wireless Ltd. will now help the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in the faster relay of crucial information.

The Mobile-based Crime and Incident Reporting Platform (MCIRP) is touted to be  an advanced 3G-based security solution for the NIA. The project was funded by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) with the aim of developing  an exclusive solution for the NIA to tackle crime and prevent acts of terrorism.

The prototype of the project was first developed for the Kochi City Police and was based on 2G technology for crime and accident reporting. Now, the platform had been scaled up using advance technology and encompassing 3G technology to develop an indigenous platform to cater to the specific needs of NIA.

The MCIRP, built using MobShare technology, enables picture capturing, video and audio recordings, and text content of the riot, bomb-blast, or crime scene along with geo-location tagging. The pre-programmed application will also show the time, date, and location, letting the control-room staff visualize and understand the actual scene and, in turn, coordinate necessary action efficiently.

MobME has handed over 25 Motorola Defy+ smart-phones to NIA as part of the project. The handsets are water-and scratch-proof.
