What is ECU Remapping or ECU Tuning ?

ECU can be expanded to ‘Engine Control Unit’ which is effectively an electronic Control Unit. As the name suggests it is the brain of modern day cars, as it controls almost everything on your car. Today’s ECU’s form a very integral and one of the most important roles in your car. ECU’s use a microprocessor which can process the inputs from the engine sensors in real time. The main component on this circuit board is a micro controller chip (CPU). The software is stored in the micro controller or other chips on the PCB, typically in EPROM’s or flash memory so the CPU can be REMAPPED by uploading updated code or replacing chips. REMAPPING or ADVANCED TUNING is modifying the stock map stored in flash memory which controls various aspects as discussed, which will ultimately create a huge difference in the performance of engine.
