Technoparktoday ( Mar, 2026) : In a major global achievement for Kerala’s startup ecosystem, Technopark-based Genrobotics has secured a high-value infrastructure contract from Singapore’s water management authority after outperforming more than 600 companies worldwide.
The contract, valued at approximately ₹80 crore, was finalised after an extensive 18-month international evaluation process that assessed technological capability, reliability, and performance in hazardous environments. Under this agreement, the Trivandrum-based startup will deploy advanced robotic systems to manage Singapore’s sewer and water infrastructure.
Founded in 2015 by four young engineers — Vimal Govind MK, Arun George, Nikhil NP, and Rashid K — Genrobotics began as a solution to one of India’s most dangerous sanitation challenges: manual sewer cleaning. Their flagship innovation, the Bandicoot robot, was designed to eliminate the need for human workers to enter toxic underground environments.
The robot uses advanced cameras, sensors, and robotic arms to inspect and clean manholes and sewer lines, significantly improving safety and efficiency. Over the years, the company has expanded its focus into broader AI-powered infrastructure automation, developing robotic solutions for sewer inspection, industrial maintenance, and other hazardous operations.
As part of the Singapore project, Genrobotics will deploy approximately 44 robotic units over the next two years. These systems will be used to inspect, clean, and maintain underground infrastructure such as sewer wells, stormwater drains, and industrial tanks.
A key technology being introduced is Wilboar, a robotic rover designed to operate in confined and toxic environments where human access is limited or unsafe. Equipped with advanced sensors and real-time monitoring capabilities, the system enables efficient inspection and maintenance of critical infrastructure.
The deployment supports Singapore’s vision of building a more automated and data-driven urban infrastructure ecosystem. For Genrobotics, the contract represents a significant validation of Indian-built robotics solutions on a global stage.
The startup has attracted investments from prominent backers, including Unicorn India Ventures, SEA Fund, and industrialist Anand Mahindra. In 2022, Zoho Corporation invested ₹20 crore to support scaling and product development.
Genrobotics reported a revenue of ₹32 crore in FY2025 and is aiming for rapid global expansion. The company has set a target of becoming a ₹500 crore enterprise in the coming years, with potential plans for a public listing around FY2028–29.
This milestone marks not just a win for the company, but also a strong signal of Kerala’s growing strength in deep-tech innovation and global technology solutions.
