UST Global lifted the Championship of GOAL 2013

TechnoparkToday.com (April,2013) >> UST Global Reds team lifted the Championship of UST Global GOAL 2013 , the Inter Company Football Tournament for companies based out of Infopark. In an exciting and closely fought finals played at the Thrikkakkara Municipal Ground at Kakkanad on Saturday (20th April, 2013), they beat Cogs United of Cognizant Technology Solutions to be the winners.

The match that was goalless during regulation time went into extra time where both the teams scored one goal each. The match was decided in the tie breaker shoot-out in which the Reds won by 5-4. Renny Kurian (2), Vibindas Koloth, Anil Antony, Ajay Jose and Vimal Sivaraman Nair scored for the winners while Sandeep, Renish, Ashraf, Anil and Sreekumar scored for the Cogs United. Shinesh Velyaveetil saved the goals for UST Global Reds as the goalkeeper and saw the team through .In the losers finals, Tata Consultancy Services Kochi team defeated ACS A Xerox Company to become the second runners up of the tournament.

In the Ladies Shootout final played on the same day, UST Global won over ACS FC Madrid (ACS A Xerox Company), the to lift the first GOAL trophy for women IT professionals. The Grand Finale of GOAL also saw a friendly exhibition penalty shoot-out between the visually challenged team of footballers from the Society for Rehabilitation of the Visually Challenged (SRVC) and the blindfolded players of UST Global.

Sabarish B from ACS A Xerox Company , won the Golden Boot Best Player Award of GOAL 2013 while Krishnahas CK from TCS Kochi won the Best Goal Keeper Award. Sajitha Sudhakaran from UST Global was awarded the Best Player in the Ladies Shootout segment.

Hon. Collector Sri P.I Shaik Pareeth was the Chief Guest of the valedictory function, which was also attended by Sri Mohammad Ali, Chairman of Thrikkakara Municipality; Adv. Shereena Shukoor, Vice Chairman of Thrikkakara Municipality and Sri Prabhu Kumar, Municipal Counselors of Thrikkakara Municipality.
