TechnoparkToday.com(Sept, 2017): For those who wanted to taste the real travancore recipes, The central travancore food fest is happening at Hotel Flamingo Inn, near Technopark Trivandrum.
Central Travancore Food is an assimilation of cuisine – Portuguese, Dutch, Arabic, Chinese….whatever cultures that touched our shores in the past and of course Kerala’s own cuisine. Most of the dishes that we now called our own is originated from somewhere else… Appam is Dutch, Idiyappan is Sri Lankad, Porotta is Moplah, Theeyal is Kerala and so on.
Also The tranvancore cuisine has an influence from the syrianchristians in that region and thats probably the reason why the meal is called the “Suriyani Christhyan ibhakshanam”. The cuisine mostly consists of bland preparations and at times are spicy because of the coastal region’s influence. The cuisine has stew both veg and non veg and thay have spicy karimeenpozhichathu
