Some thoughts on Life and Luck

TechnoparkToday.com>Hope, all have seen the film “Cast Away” by Tom Hanks. Its a great story with many things we can learn and adapt. Briefing the story, a rich business man who have led a life of strict time tables and disciplines and all the facilities in life was drifted to a lonely island by a plane crash. The advanced society failed to find him and considered him dead. But man was there in that lonely island , having no support. After few days of hang over from the incident he started to learn the survival tactics to sustain life in his body. He adapted and tried many things that he had learned from the civilized society, in which he was once a part.

As a part of survival in that lonely island, fire was a needed thing in hand. But he don’t have any lighter or devices to create the fire. The learned out things regarding the creation of fire, he started creating it himself using woods, stones etc. It was not an easy job as the thing are all new to him. He tried and tried for several weeks to create a small spark of fire and after his weeks of struggle and hard work , he made it. The “Fire” was now known to him. He was excited by that and laughed and cried and ran through the shores screaming , expressing his joy and result he got from the hard work he had done so far.

After few years he was rescued and reached back to his normal life. While one day in home ,he just need to light a candle and then his assistant gave him a lighter, with the easiness of a swipe he created the fire and lightened the candle. Looking at the flame he stand still for a moment thinking about his experience in creating the same when he was alone and without any support in that lonely island.

The point of the story is we still misses the exact value of all the things that are belonging to us currently. We may feel its importance one and only if a circumstance arise to expose the neediness of the same. Unless then we don’t consider it as precious and we will run for some other.
Hence it is time for us to judge the value of all the belongings we have now and understand how precious they are and how much lucky we are in this world.

For a real time scenario, spend a day in Trivandrum medical college, RCC, SAT for 24 hrs a day, just to see the things going around. You can see the different faces facing different situations and struggling for the existence and still trying to survive all the calamities affected to them. Next time when you travel near Medical college roads, just have an observation, you can see that many cross the roads and lines without looking at proper traffic signals. It is not their fault, they are people who have loosed focus and just wandering their to reach their daily objectives. Hence if you experience some one like that, be patient and allow them to cross the streets as you are the people having focus on life.

Just understand how much lucky we are compared to whole human world. Did any one think about that yet. Let me give you a small torch to gather some information on that.

1.If you are getting enough food, water, clothing and shelter, you are luckier more than crores of human population in the world.

Last , if you are able to have a facebook account and operate it daily, then you are some how luckier than many in this world.

Hence understand how “LUCKY” you are and how “PRIVILEGED” you are. be honest and happy with all the things you have and one more request is never mess this up with “PASSION” as for passion can be measured according circumstances alone.

Happiness and joy are not goals that we need to reach, they are hidden treasures lying besides us. Only thing we need to do is to find that happiness and spread it. As we don’t know what fate is going to be on us in future. So let live a happy life hereafter.

  4. So True. I live in America, one of the richest countries on Earth and when I say richest, I mean monetary wealth. So many see this as being rich, but Abhinand tells us the real “wealth” in life. I have had 2 cancer scares in my life and sometimes that makes you realize how lucky it is to have family, shelter, and love. Great job! Carpe Diem!
