Tejus bags Best NGO award on World Blood Donor day

tejusTechnoparkToday.com>> World Blood Donor day that falls on June 14, has reasons to make Technopark proud. TEJUS, an NGO run by a group of Techies, has bagged the ‘Best NGO’ award for conducting maximum number of blood donation drives in the state. TEJUS will receive the award from senior politician, Shri. V S Achuthanandan, during the World Blood Donor day celebrations at VJT Hall, being organized by All Kerala Blood Donors’ Society and Terumo Penpol Private Limited. The theme of this year’s World Blood Donor Day, is “Blood connects us all”.

Since its inception, TEJUS has been instrumental in mobilising and facilitating over 6000 blood donations so far. Of these, 1798 blood donations were supported in 2015 and 1698 donations this year, as of June 2016. Through their efforts and immense support from various organizations, TEJUS has conducted 17 blood donation camps in 2015 and 12 this year.

PRAJYOT, a TEJUS initiative, organizes trips to RCC and other hospitals on case to case basis. Marching forward towards achieving 100% self-sufficiency in blood donation in the coming years, a cab plies donors between Technopark and the hospital. With whole-hearted support and transportation provided by IBS Software and D+H Solutions, donors are able to comfortably participate in blood donation on a regular and scheduled basis. In the current PRAJYOT schedule, IBS sponsors 5 six-seater cab trips to RCC and D+H sponsors 2 eighteen-seater cab trips every month.

These life-empowering PRAJYOT trips are facilitated by the all-women team of TEJUS, which includes its members – Revathi, Anu, Sajina, Nimmy, Kavitha, Parvathy, Karthika, Suja, and Vidya.

idonateiDONATE, is another initiative, which is aimed at conducting blood donation camps in various building lobbies and premises of Technopark companies. This initiative is a huge success and interested companies can join hands with TEJUS in conducting iDONATE camps. Ratheesh (VSSC), Suresh, Krishnaprasad, and Sajina are the coordinators of iDONATE camps.

“All initiatives are getting a huge response from the Techies, which is a major manpower resource that could contribute much to the needy sector. All companies in Technopark are providing good support for TEJUS by arranging donors and circulating blood requirement requests among employees. The great support what we are getting from the TP community is also helping us to systematically work towards our VISION 2020 – to achieve 100% voluntary blood donation at RCC and SCT by 2020.” Ratheesh Sahadevan and Asnov, the torch-bearers of TEJUS said to TechnoparkToday.com.

TEJUS gets support from all Techie organizations – Natana, Prathidhwani, G-Tech, Prakruthi, VSC, Tech Friends, e-Wit, GGSE and so on, in organizing camps and arranging donors each time. We are thankful to Technopark authorities, Park Center Staff, and Technopark club house for providing seamless support for our initiatives.” Ajeesh, president of TEJUS said.

In an innovative event series, BLOOM – the BLOOd Movement, TEJUS has joined hands with All Kerala Blood Donors Society (KEBS), Sanchari, Sahrudaya, and RED FM, to conduct blood donation camps on the first Saturday of every month. The camps that are held at the Museum compound, invite a lot of first-time blood donors to join in the noble cause. Each BLOOM camp witnesses around 50 blood donations in the specially-occupied blood collecting Volvo bus. The BLOOM program is also instrumental in inculcating a need to bring in a culture of blood donation and a great level of awareness to general public.

TEJUS welcomes Techies and all Technopark Organizations to conduct blood donations camps inside Technopark campus as part of the iDONATE program. To join TEJUS and be a part of life saving initiatives, contact Suresh (9847799222) and Rahul ([email protected]). TEJUS also requests companies to encourage their employees to donate. Technopark has a massive population of 50,000 people and the numbers are only growing. Even if 20% of those working in Technopark donate regularly, the blood crisis in the city will be completely wiped out. TEJUS wishes all organizations to believe: Empower your work force, make a positive difference to empower the world.
