Shift towards state-of-the-art technologies need of the hour: Aryadan Muhammed

Trivandrum, Dec 22: Technology plays a key role in the sustainable development of the society and it is high time we effectively shun old and outdated technologies and usher in the state-of-the art machinery, according to Sri Aryadan Muhammed, Honorable Minister for Power.

Inaugurating the Elelctronics Day on the second day of Vyapaar 2011, he noted that in the last 10 years, Kerala has been able to bring down energy transition loss from 32% to a mere 15 % with help of technology.

The Minister also appreciated the initiative of One Roof India Pvt Ltd, the organizers of Vyapaar 2011, in showcasing such an interesting trade conclave and extended the state government’s full support to such initiatives.

The second day of Vyapaar 2011 was noted for the inauguration of Electronics Day. The second day got off to a start with a seminar on opportunities in the Silk industry. The seminar was attended by around 30 textile students from the Central Polytechnic, Vattiyoorkavu.

The seminar was led by Sri Babu Giridaran, Assistant Director, Silk Mark of India and Sri Naryanan Kutty, Director, Silk Board of India. The session had the participation from both speakers and students, and included discussions on the evolution of silk, major producers, major markets and techniques and methods of producing silk.

The speakers reminded participants about the abundant employment opportunities in the silk industry, which encompasses areas from plantation to weaving, cocoon cultivation and marketing. They also demonstrated the government’s quality mark for silk (Silk Mark) in India adding that around 1700 stores are authorized to sell Silk Mark products which ensures purity and quality . Active audience participation added sheen to the discussions with many ideas being shared.
This was followed by sessions in ‘Online Marketing and Branding’ which was very much informative for the audience about using the web as an effective tool for marketing and advertising. Another session on ‘Angel investment in Kerala Scenario’ shared with the participants ideas IT investment in Kerala . The final seminar of the day discussed Investment Opportunities in tourism Sector.

Vyapaar 2011which opened on December 21st will run till the 25th. The second day showed enthusiastic crowds turn up and the organizers hope it would get more attention in the coming days. The expo runs between 10am and 7pm. Entry is free for the public.
