Massive demonstration on demanding stops for more trains at Kazhakkoottam by Techies

TechnoparkToday.com>> Prathidhwani – Socio Cultural & Welfare organization of IT Employees conducted Rally and demonstration for seeking halts for more number of trains at Kazhakootam Railway station. The protest rally started at 4pm, Aug 18, 2017 from Technopark Main gate.

Further there had a protest gathering at 5pm in front of Kazhakootam Railway Station. About 1,000 techies took part in the demonstration demanding stoppages for more trains, a long pending demand of the techies. They gathered in front of Technopark main gate and marched toward the Kazhakkoottam railway station, which is nearby. Mayor V K Prasath, who addressed the gathering, assured that he would take up their demand.

The Technopark crowd over 50,000 employees consists of major share who belong to other districts. Hence, Prathidhwani has been demanding for halts for more number of trains at Kazhakootam Railway station. It is difficult to reach office on time from Thampanoor Railway station for people who commute daily and also for the employees who travel during Friday and reach by Monday. Hence, most of them have now started depending on private buses. This results in both financial and time loss. For large number of employees stopping the Jayanthi train at Kazhakootam during morning will be very helpful. Also currently we don’t have halts at Kazhakootam for any train which travels via Alappuzha. Undoubtedly, adding halts for trains via Northern Kerala, Chennai and Bangalore will be very beneficial to the employees.

Prathidhwani had started demanding for train halts 4 years before after understanding the travel difficulties faced by the employees. We had made a short film, “Liberators” highlighting the issue. Further multiple campaigns were conducted over the years.

Multiple representations were submitted to Union Railway Minister, Dr.Shashi Tharoor MP, Dr. Sampath MP, MLAs, and the Divisional Managers over the years (Rajesh Aggarwal, Sunil Bajpayee, and also the current Manager Prakash Bhutani).

Techies submitted a request to Kazhakootam MLA and minister Kadakampally Surendran and he had also given a request to the Railway minister on the same.

Further there were multiple Signature campaigns, Selfie Video Campaign, Hashtag Campaigns conducted to highlight the issues faced by Technopark community to the Railway Dept. and Central Govt. Even after realizing that the demand is fair, we have been ignored and our concerns have not yet been addressed. Considering this situation, techies have decided to move to protest rally.
