Empowering Women in IT, Trivandrum Chapter Launched @ Technopark

 September 20, 2012 -:  Empowering Women in IT (eWIT), a women’s forum conceptualized by a group of IT Professionals in India, today launched its Trivandrum Chapter in Technopark. Her Highness Princess Gouri Parvathy Bayi formally inaugurated the Trivandrum Chapter of eWIT.

Inaugurating the Trivandrum Chapter, Princess Gouri Parvathy Bayi, said “I feel very encompassed and personified to be a part of this event. Women belonging to all social strata in Kerala are already empowered and are great role models for other women to follow. We are not here to compete with men, but to complement them. I wish good luck to eWIT Trivandrum Chapter and hope to see them to set an example for the other chapters of this organization across the country.”

Technopark Sr. Business Development Manager M Vasudevan, IBS Chairman V K Mathews and Allianz MD Rakesh Gupta pledged and extended their commitment and full support towards this initiative in Kerala. Rina Vivekanandan, Managing Director Global Business Psychology Organisation welcomed the dignitaries. Radhika Chandrashekhar, Director BCM& Internal Audit Global outsourcing, RR Donnelley spoke about eWit being launched in Trivandrum and the need for such an organization for the empowerment of women working in the IT/ITES sector in Kerala.  Dr. Sindhuja Varma, Head Learning & Development Allianz delivered the Vote of Thanks.

The inaugural function was followed by a panel discussion on “Empower the Women, Enrich Your World. The panel discussion was chaired by Mr. Balagopal, MD, Terumo Penpol. Dr. Amee Yajnik, Eminent Social Worker and Standing Counsel for Gujarat High Court; Dr. Sherly Elizabeth, Director of Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management Kerala and Bhawani Cheerath, Author and Independent Journalist were the panelists who discussed on various issues women are facing and how empowering them was key to the development of the country. A quiz contest was also conducted for the audience which was moderated by Rekha Menon, Head of Media & PR (Asia), UST Global.

Technopark CEO K G Girish Babu conveyed his best wishes to eWIT Trivandrum Chapter on their launch and extended all support for the organization from Technopark in a message in his absence.
