Technopark Carpooling website launched

The ever awaited carpooling website for Technopark - www.parkcarpool.in, was jointly launched by the Group of Technopark Companies (GTECH), a body representing the chief executives of the Technopark firms, and Palnar Transmedia, a city-based software firm.
The site would encourage IT professionals to travel together and thereby save money, fuel and reduce global warming and traffic on the roads.Those who are interested can register in the website for free by submitting some basic information and search for travel mates who commute to the Technopark campus or Infopark in Kochi.

Satyam may lay off over 12,000 employees

Satyam Computer Services, which is now controlled by Tech Mahindra, is planning to lay off 12,000 to 14,000 employees.
Sources said that the new management made a formal announcement before senior management personnel on Thursday on the issue of reducing manpower by up to 14,000 people.
Satyam currently has just over 40,000 employees, of which 19,000 are ‘billing employees,’ while just over 20,000 are ‘non-billing’ staff. Almost everyone currently on the ‘bench’ is in danger of losing employment at Satyam, a source said.

The work on prestigious infosys IT campus in Kerala is in progress, up on completion it would be the most beautiful building in kerala.The cladding work is progressing fast on SDB - I of the Infosys campus even as piling nears completion on SDB - II. The first SDB is expected to soft-commissioned by next month.

Mervin Alexander has been appointed on deputation as the Chief Executive Officer of Technopark.
Merwin Alexander, who had been holding the post of Director of Postal Services at Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, has taken over from Siddhartha Bhattacharya who was the acting CEO after former Technopark CEO Radhakrishnan Nair quit.

Technopark-Trivandrum and Infopark-Kochi have approved annual expansion plans envisaging budgets of Rs 650 crore and Rs 250 crore respectively for 2009-10.
This was decided at general body meetings of the State’s two principal technology parks, the Chief Minister, Mr V. S. Achuthanandan.Briefing newspersons on the decisions taken at the meetings, he said the Technopark would immediately start construction activities that would cost around Rs 100 crore.

Toonz Technopark inks deal with Illusion Studio

Toonz Animation Technopark, animation major in Technopark and South American studio Illusion Studios have inked a co-production deal for producing a 90 minute 3D animated feature film. According to a press release here today, the film ‘Gaturro’, which is based on the famous Argentine comic strip Gaturro and is created by Christian Dzwonik (Nik) Gaturoo, chronicles fun love story of two cats Gaturro, the protagonist and Agatha. The deal was estimated to be worth six million USD.

Kerala Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan said on Wednesday that the global economic slowdown may delay the launch of the Rs.15 billion Smart City project in Kochi.
The proposed project, to be jointly launched by the state government and the Dubai-based infrastructure major Smart City, is slated to come up on a 246-acre plot with 8.8 million square feet of built-up space. 70 per cent of this space is earmarked for IT and IT-enabled services.
